Our Courgettes are growing really well. We sowed 12 generations of courgette seeds. Using seeds from the crops grown in Natural Agriculture produces strong, vigorous plants which, over time, can withstand harmful insects, diseases and adverse weather conditions. 🌱

We have a beautiful community garden on site that our volunteers spend time learning about natural gardening. We would love you to join the team.

Please visit our website for more information: www.garonpark.com or send an email to enquiries@garonparkcic.com

This year we have planted around 100 Pea plants in our community garden using the process of Shumei Natural Agriculture.

This way we don’t use any fertiliser, chemicals or manure. This means our crop is grown in pure Soil, Water and Sunlight.

Shumei agriculture stands for natural agriculture and focuses on preserving the natural processes of the soil. It is a low input form of growing and has the potential to revolutionize agriculture worldwide.

Our community agriculture plot is being developed to provide healthy nutritious food for our volunteer lunches and potentially in the future generate revenue to help Wellbeing at Garon Park become financially sustainable.

Pyramid Orchid now in Bloom!

Anacamptis pyramidalis is a native Orchid species in the UK. Anacamptis derives from Greek ανακάμτειν ‘anakamptein’ meaning ‘bend forward’, while the Latin name pyramidalis refers to the pyramidal form of the inflorescence.

The flowers are pollinated by butterflies and moths, by mechanisms discovered by Charles Darwin, as described in his book on the Fertilisation of Orchids.

The dried and ground tuber (from various species of Orchis and Anacamptis) can be made into a fine white powder, called salep. This is a very nutritious sweet starchlike substance. It is used in drinks, cereals and in making bread. In Turkey it is used in ice-creams. It was also used medicinally in diets for children and convalescents.

The plant grows in abundance in a patch within our Hive Nature School. Please get in touch with Steps Ahead Life and see all the fantastic activities they have to offer there.
