On Friday 23rd February the High Sheriff of Essex, Charles Bishop, visited our remarkable site, Wellbeing at Garon Park. He was delighted to explore and discuss our facilities such as the Shed, Community Garden and Nature Pond. During his visit he had the pleasure of meeting some outstanding individuals committed to maintaining the high standards and vibrancy of our community.
Bishop engaged with members associated with Achieve Thrive Flourish (ATF), a major organisation creating opportunities for children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. He also met individuals from Southend United Community Educational Trust (SUCET), which includes a youth holiday soccer school and an adults walking Football team.

Philip Burton, manager of the 32 acre Cricket site, recieved a certificate from the High Sheriff for the upkeep of the pitch associated with the Essex County Cricket Board (ECCB). Sir Bishop was delighted to witness the grounds where numerous inidividuals will persist in developing their skills.

Sir Bishop planted a Red Maple Tree on-site to commemorate his visit and support our tree planting initiative, enchancing the environmental and wildlife value of Garon Park. Red Maple trees provide both aesthetic beauty through their vibrant red foliage and practical advantages such as shade and cooling, making them a visually appealing and environmentally beneficial addition to our site.

We love seeing more trees in Southend-on-Sea City Council. Can you help the council plant them?
